Core policy: Stages 1 through 3 require either a usable customer-supplied S54 core sent to Coyne Performance before the build or selection of the CPe-supplied exchange/core engine option. A usable customer core must include a serviceable block, crankshaft, and cylinder head. Stage 4 is the exception: no customer core is required and no core charge applies.

How We Handle Engine Concerns

CPe does not offer a written warranty on its built performance engines. We do take workmanship concerns seriously. Contact us promptly and we will review the engine's build record and available evidence honestly. If our review indicates that CPe workmanship caused the problem, we will acknowledge the finding and discuss a fair, case-specific response. Any goodwill assistance is voluntary and based on the facts of that engine; it is not a promise of repair, replacement, refund, or coverage for a fixed time or mileage.

Customers requiring defined manufacturer-backed warranty coverage should purchase the Genuine BMW remanufactured short engine, BMW part number 11000304349. BMW states that Original BMW remanufactured parts carry a two-year, unlimited-mileage limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. BMW controls eligibility and terms; confirm current coverage with an authorized BMW Center before purchase.

Standard CPe VANOS Reliability Service

The following VANOS reliability service is included with every Coyne Performance S54 engine build:

  • VANOS seal replacement
  • VANOS pump disc upgrade/replacement
  • Inspection of the original exhaust hub and reuse when serviceable
  • VANOS oil inlet/pressure reducer upgrade
  • VANOS pressure regulator

A complete replacement VANOS valve body/block is available as an option. When selected, the complete valve body/block includes a new pressure regulator. The standard included service does not automatically include a new exhaust hub or a complete new VANOS assembly.

Engine Blueprint Documentation

Every Coyne Performance engine is individually measured, clearanced, and assembled in-house. Critical machining and assembly measurements are documented throughout the build process.

Each performance engine build includes a serialized engine build/blueprint record documenting applicable measurements and information such as:

  • Cylinder bore measurements
  • Piston measurements
  • Piston-to-wall clearance
  • Main bearing clearance
  • Rod bearing clearance
  • Piston ring end gaps
  • Relevant rotating assembly measurements
  • Component weights and balance information, where applicable
  • Machining information, where applicable
  • Final assembly notes

The record is specific to the individual engine. Only measurements and information applicable to that build are documented.
